To set up email in Outlook 2010, follow these steps:

  1. Open Outlook 2010.
  2. Click theย Fileย tab.
  3. In theย Account Informationย section,ย clickย Add Account.
  4. In theย Choose Account Typeย dialog box,ย selectย Manual setup or additional Server typesย and clickย Next.
  5. In theย Choose Serviceย dialog box,ย selectย POP or IMAPย and clickย Next.
  6. In theย POP and IMAP Account Settingsย dialog box,ย enter the following information:
    • Your Name:ย Your full name.
    • Email Address: Your full email address.
    • Account Type:ย POP3 or IMAP.
    • Incoming mail Server: The incoming mail Server address for your email account. (mail.yourdomain.co.za)
    • Outgoing mail Server (SMTP): The outgoing mail Server address for your email account. (mail.yourdomain.co.za)
    • Username:ย Your email address.
    • Password:ย Your email password.
  7. Click theย More Settingsย button.
  8. In theย Internet E-mail Settingsย dialog box,ย click theย Outgoing Serverย tab.
  9. Underย My outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication,ย select theย Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)ย checkbox.
  10. Click theย Advancedย tab.
  11. Underย Incoming Server,ย check theย This Server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)ย checkbox.
  12. Underย Outgoing Server,ย check theย This Server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)ย checkbox.
  13. Clickย OKย to close theย Internet E-mail Settingsย dialog box.
  14. Clickย Test Account Settingsย in theย POP and IMAP Account Settingsย dialog box.
  15. If the test is successful,ย you will see a message that saysย Your account was successfully configured.
  16. Clickย Finishย to close theย POP and IMAP Account Settingsย dialog box.

Your new email account will now be added to Outlook 2010 and you can start sending and receiving emails.

Here are some additional tips for setting up email in Outlook 2010:

  • If you are unsure of your incoming or outgoing mail Server addresses,ย you can contact your email provider for assistance.
  • If you are using a POP3 account,ย you will need to configure Outlook to leave a copy of your emails on the Server.ย To do this,ย open Outlook and click theย Fileย tab.ย In theย Infoย category,ย clickย Account Settings.ย In theย Account Settingsย dialog box,ย select your POP3 account and clickย Change.ย In theย Change Accountย dialog box,ย clickย More Settings.ย In theย More Settingsย dialog box,ย click theย Advancedย tab.ย Underย Delivery,ย select theย Leave a copy of messages on the Serverย checkbox.
  • If you are using an IMAP account,ย Outlook will automatically keep a copy of your emails on the Server.
